LOWERHOUSE took four EW Cartons Lancashire League points from two rain-wrecked matches.
They had the downpour to thank after they were bowled out for 52 by Accrington, who were 38-0 in reply when the heavens opened and no more play was possible. Their title-chase intact, Lowerhouse followed up next day with 126-7 against Enfield, with Chris Bleazard to thank for top score of 32, but again heavy rain put paid to thoughts of ending the match. Enfield never even got out to bat.
Alan Dawson was the destroyer of Rawtenstall as Nelson took five points despite the rain. The South African took 7-21 as Rawtenstall were reduced to 72 all out. Nelson made 55-1 in reply and won on faster run rate.
A day earlier, Nelson had set 158-7 against Rishton, who made 46 without loss before rain intervened.
Burnley lost to Church in another rain-affected match. They set a target of 162, which, when reduced to 111 because of interruptions, was easy for Church.
On Sunday Nasser Mehmood hit a quick 79 as Burnley made 138-8 against Accrington, who could not start their reply because of the rain, and both teams picked up two points.
Colne enjoyed a good weekend, starting with a home victory over Rawtenstall. Gary Laycock fell two short of a century and captain Gary Hunt made 66 as the Horsfield side made an impressive 225.
The visitors' target became 216 after the rain but a good all-round bowling performance by Colne gave them the points.
On Sunday Ben Johnson made a stylish 84 not out against Rishton, but it was again the weather prevailed.
