SAD man Dave Brook kitted out in a crumpled tracksuit his mum bought him nearly 30 years ago is the lucky winner of the Citizen Allsports competition. Dave, of Bay Horse near Carnforth, cleared the the floor with a picture of himself wearing a scruffy moth-eaten jogging suit which even he admits has seen better days. But all this is to change - the 40-year-old engineer has won £250 worth of Allsports gear.

Dave works for Nuclear Electric at Heysham 2 and hopes his new sports wear will make a new man of him.

He intends to get a pair of trainers, a new track suit and perhaps a sweatshirt.

Dave secretly told the Citizen he was regularly seen at the pub wearing other indispensable items of clothing - a shell suit and a tea cosy for a hat. He told the Citizen: "I'm really pleased to win. A lot of my gear has seen plenty of active service and it was about time I got something new."

Dave explained that he was a keen mountain biker, and enjoys windsurfing as well as jaunts down to the pub.

"Everyone said I looked a bit sad. My mum bought me my old tracksuit when I was 12, I was really tall for my age and I was captain of the rugby team at school."

Citizen editor Greg Morgan said: "Despite the tough competition Dave was a clear winner, or should I say loser!"
