BURY will take on deadly rivals Bolton Wanderers in a pre-season "Clash of the Champions" sponsored by the Bury Times and Bolton Evening News.
Both papers are subsidiaries of Newsquest Media Group Ltd, one of the biggest provincial newspaper group in the country, and have put up a trophy for the winners of the match at Gigg Lane on July 29 (7.45pm).
And 60 lucky readers - 30 from each paper - will get the chance to watch the match, and enjoy as meal in the Shakers' restaurant "Starkies', completely free of charge.
The package of prizes will be up for grabs over the coming weeks with readers of the Bury Times asked to answer four simple questions that will appear in a quartet of issues - July 4, 8, 11, and 15. Winners will be announced in the Tuesday edition of the Bury Times of July 22.
"Playing for a trophy will add some spice to what should be a great curtain raiser to the season," reckoned Bury Fc commercial manager Neville Neville. "Both clubs had outstanding seasons to win their respective divisions and we expect a bumper crowd."
