ONCE, I wrote for this newspaper, enjoying what I thought was the best job in the world. I was 28 before I found the 'scoop' that changed by life, and a job that was even better - reporting the Good News.
One of my journalistic contacts introduced me to the God who loved me so much and wanted to give me all riches that he had.
And here I am, a quarter of a century later, still telling anybody who will listen that the treasures of the universe are also available to them - if only they will ask. And I'm also here to issue an invitation.
Any who would like to know more are welcome to join me and Christians from my church and Woodnook Baptists for a meal at Callum's Restaurant, Accrington, next Tuesday evening.
We are starting what is known as an Alpha Group - a 10-week look at the creed that has brought law and order to a lost world, joy and hope to millions and freedom for even more millions locked in fear and bondage.
It is primarily for all those who asked God to come into their lives during our joint church mission in May. But equally, those seeking God and happiness will also find the course a real help.
This invitation is especially for those not attached to any churches at present. We have no desire to steal from other flocks.
If you want to come, you will need to ring me on 01254 235089 to book your place, and the free meal. You can come to the first night just for a taster and make up your mind afterwards.
