A MAJOR event to highlight the looming millennium computer timebomb is being staged later this month.
And high profile names in the industry including Microsoft will be on hand at a seminar, held to coincide with the launch of Blackburn Business Link.
The millennium issue centres on the problem that many computers will not be able to recognise the year 2000.
Experts in industry and commerce predict huge problems as systems crash at the year change.
"As we approach the millennium, small and medium businesses face arguably the biggest threat to their survival," said Ken Whittaker, executive director for Business Link Blackburn.
The seminar, at Ewood Park on June 25, will see IT firms include Nynex CableComms and Forest UK on hand as well as representatives from the Taskforce 2000 consortium set up to alert firms to the problems.
Further details are available from Business Link Blackburn on 01254 696869.
