A HOUSING boss believes it is too early to say whether blocks of terrace homes in the Daneshouse and Stoneyholme areas of Burnley will need to be demolished.
Housing chairman Coun Rafique Malik spoke as the borough committee agreed proposals for the further investigations of properties in the renewal area and wider priority action area.
Housing needs and strategy manager David Riley said there was a considerable amount of work to be done although it was intended the committee would have considered all the results by December. Coun Gordon Birtwistle asked whether blocks would be scheduled for demolition.
Coun Malik replied that it was too early to say but it could be that some blocks would have to be cleared.
He said they wanted to know the condition of the properties.
Coun Malik added: "We have people applying for grants but we don't want money putting into terraces where there are a large number houses beyond the position where we can retain them.
"We need all this information before we can make further decisions.''
