I READ with interest the article (LET, June 5) about Blackburn Corporation's attempt to hold the victim whose car was stolen responsible for the criminal's action.
The mind boggled at the possibilities this concept offered. For instance, if some person broke into the corporation's depot one night, stole a vehicle and went on a rampage throughout the town, assuming the theft was not noticed until the following day, the council would pay for the damage caused.
Think of the possibilities of the holiday period - when the theft might not be noticed for a week.
Maybe the council should take the opportunity of reorganisation to review its legal advisers.
