AN OLD sailor has appealed for the return of cherished pictures showing his war-time ship-mates.

Arthur Cronshaw, who will be 75 on June 19, mislaid a bag containing pictures of colleagues on board second world war ships at Cascades pub, Blackburn.

Arthur, of Fountain Avenue, Great Harwood, served as a stoker on HMS Norfolk after joining up in 1941, aged 19.

He had left the snaps inside a red sports-bag which he had earlier taken to a cricket match on June 7.

He said: "The pictures show about 20 of my colleagues and have great sentimental value for me.

"I do not know any of them now and find it difficult to remember the times that we had together without looking at their faces."

Mr Cronshaw believes he may have left the bag near to the front door at Cascades before getting into a taxi at the end of the Sett End Football Club party.

Anyone who can help should phone him on 01254 601448.
