A CHANCE to build a career in the glamorous world of television is something most people can only dream about.

But for one lucky Blackpool person that opportunity of a lifetime could become a reality.

The BBC's Northern Exposure Team are filming a fly-on-the-wall documentary about the holiday season in Blackpool and need a trainee production assistant.

The job would entail working alongside the camera crew and the director who will be here for six months to film as much of what goes on in Blackpool as possible.

Already the crew has shot a huge amount of no-holds-barred footage at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The possibilities the job could lead to for a successful trainee are huge.

James Isaacs, one of the producers, said: "This is a tremendous opportunity for someone who wants to get into television.

"Previous experience is useful, but not essential. What we are really searching for is a person with lots of energy, enthusiasm and common sense.

"This is a tried and tested way to break into television. In fact, I began my own career by doing work experience."

Would-be TV workers need to be aged between 18 and 25 and live locally. The successful applicant would be paid a training allowance.

Anyone who is interested should send a brief CV and a letter about themselves, their previous experience and future ambitions in television, plus a contact phone number and address.

The closing date for applications is June 27.

They should be sent to James Isaacs, Northern Exposure Television, Suite 4K, Central Buildings, 211 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3NW.
