ARCHITECTS chosen to design Lancaster's 'millennium bridge' were in town this week to capture the feel of the city.
On Wednesday council officers briefed award-winning architect Phil Bird about what they want from the proposed pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Lune.
Mr Bird was given details about geology, the archeological importance of the site plus construction details such as the placing of pipes and cables.
The council have said that they do not want a 'historical pastiche' for their big 'millennium' project and that it should be attractive in itself. The bridge is expected to follow the path of the original medieval bridge from the end of Lune Street to the top end of St George's Quay.
