KARATE kids at a Preston school are taking time out from lessons to kick their way to awards.

Pupils as young as five from Woodlands School on Ribbleton Avenue took part in a 12 week martial arts course. And youngsters who fall in love with the sport are given the chance to continue and work their way towards the ultimate goal - a black belt.

At an awards ceremony last week pupils were presented with certificates and orange and red belts.
