PRESTON Council is been granted £100,000 lottery cash for improvements in Avenham and Fishergate Hill.
The grant, from the Heritage Lottery Fund, will pay for conservation work to restore the former character of Latham Street, Walton's Parade and West Cliff.
Alan Millington, who co-ordinated the bid, said: "We want to stop these areas becoming run-down and restore confidence in the area."
Work includes tree-planting and street paving and should start at the end of the year.
