PRESTON will be blooming this summer as it puts on the town's first ever flower show.
Allotment plot holders have been given the go-ahead to set up stalls to show off their produce in Moor Park at a special family day-out in August.
The event - which will cost the council £2,600 - will also include an animal farm, donkey rides, bands, crafts and children's activities.
Leisure services chair Rose Kinsella said: "It is part of our commitment to involve the community in allotment work. We have just started school tours to plots where children find out about growing produce and plants."
The show, could become an annual event, will take place on August 25 from 10am to 4pm and admission is free.
The annual allotment competition takes place on July 2 when plots will be judged and prizes awarded to the best entries.
