SPORTY youngsters are limbering up in preparation for the largest event in its kind to be held in the county.
School pupils are now in training for the Lancashire Youth Games which involves more than 3,000 children competing in 20 different sports.
The tournament begins with events organised for athletes with disabilities at Ewood Park on June 25. A total of 14 venues across Blackburn and Darwen will be used.
The majority of events will take place on the weekend of June 28 to 29 with football, badminton, basketball, trampolining and tennis.
Games organiser Steve Lee said: "It promises to be a very successful weekend with the cream of athletes from schools across the county taking part."
The games have been sponsored by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council with support from Blackburn and District Sports Council, the Lancashire Playing Fields Association, Blackburn Regeneration Partnership and Blackburn Rovers.
