I AM the local contact for the War Research Society which was founded, and is run on a voluntary basis, by serving and retired Police Officers and friends who all have a great interest in both the First and Second World Wars.
We operate as a charitable hobby enabling us to make regular donations to the Royal British Legion, Earl Haig Poppy Appeal, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and several Forces related to charity.
We assist in the tracing of War graves, taking veterans, relatives and other interested parties to visit the Battlefields, Memorials and the last resting places of the fallen in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
We can also arrange for the photographers of war graves for those that cannot travel.
We have some remaining places on our organised trips to Somme, Ypres, Passchendaele, Verdun, Maginot Line, Loos, Marne, Aisne, Normandy, Arnhem, Nijmegen, Berlin, Colditz Castle, Soltau, Belsen, Battle of The Bulge, D-Day to Berlin and the scenes of the Dambusters Raid in Germany during the remainder of this year.
If anyone is interested in the trips, I would welcome enquiries and gladly send details if they enclose a large stamped address envelope.
