LUKE Bryan, the tragic teenage rugby star who suffered a serious spinal injury during a game last November has been awarded the Player of the Year Award.
And there was a standing ovation when Luke's mum Christine and four-year-old sister Sally picked up his trophy at a presentation evening held at Haydock Cricket Club.
To date players and officials of Haydock ARLFC have more than £30,000 for their 17-year-old team-mate who dislocated a vertebrae in a fall while playing for the club's under 18s against Folly Lane.
