JOHN Blunt (LET, June 11) seems to be castigating the Labour government already.
I think he will agree with me that it will have a long way to go to match the previous government's track record.
That, remember, included the decimation of the coal, steel, shipping and motor industries.
This destruction did more harm to our country than any previous war and, sadly, it cannot be reversed.
In the normal course of events, it would have taken many more years for these industries to have died a natural death, by which time, the country could have adjusted.
With the revenue from North Sea oil used as a back-up all this was passable.
F G BILLINGTON (Mr), East Crescent, Accrington.
