ROSENBORG'S Bent Skammelsrud is yet another Blackburn Rovers target, writes TONY DEWHURST.
And the Norwegian champions may offer Lars Bohinen a lifeline if he decides to quit England and return to Scandanavia.
Rosenborg's Director of Coaching Rune Bratseth admitted today: "If Lars Bohinen is available then we are definitely interested."
A Rovers spy watched Skammelsrud in action in Trondheim this week.
The Norwegian international played a major role in Rosenborg's Norwegian League win against Bodo Glimt and impressed several overseas scouts - including new Torino boss Graeme Souness.
Officials from Dundee United and Southampton also ran the rule over the creative 29-year-old.
Skammelsrud can play either in central midfield or in the left back slot-which could be another indication that Rovers are looking for cover if Graeme Le Saux decides to leave Ewood-and has caught Roy Hodgson's eye in the past.
A Rosenborg spokesman said: "There is a lot of interest from clubs in England. Blackburn were represented at the game.
"We know the player would relish a move to Blackburn. It would be his dream."
There were today no new developments on Hodgson's extensive Europe-wide transfer trail.
And Rovers report no new inquiries for their present squad.
Coventry City raided Rosenborg yesterday for the Norwegian midfielder Trond Egil Soltvedt in a £500,000 deal.
The Rosenborg star, top scorer for the club in the Champions' League last season, turned down a move to Italy to play in the Premiership.
A Blackburn Rovers representative side will play Clitheroe at Shawbridge on Saturday, July 26 (3pm).
Rovers' are hoping to confirm two first team dates, at First Division Sheffield United and Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen.
Rovers have had three home Premiership fixtures re-scheduled for live coverage by Sky Television. Monday, August 25, Sheffield Wednesday; Sunday, September 14, Leeds United; Sunday, September 28, Coventry City.
