ADRIAN Heath is poised to snap up three new faces - with Holland's Second Division Player of the Season heading his European shopping list.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph can reveal tonight that the Clarets boss is close to sealing a deal with a Dutch utility player under the Bosman ruling.
That means Burnley could bring the player to Turf Moor on a free transfer if they can agree personal terms with the mystery target.
And, with Heath ready to strike out for an experienced goalkeeper and a First Division defender, it could prove a busy week at Turf Moor as the manager builds towards the start of pre-season training.
Heath revealed he had conducted lengthy discussions with his Dutch target yesterday and he is due to fly in from Holland tomorrow for further talks with the Clarets manager. Heath said: "I've had discussions with a player in Holland and that could fear fruit later this week.
"The player that I am interested in is out of contract and that means we could get him under Bosman.
"He is an extremely adaptable player and is in the Frank Rijkaard mould.
"I'm very excited at the possibility of signing him and it would be a wonderful signing if we can get it sorted out."
Meanwhile, Heath has sounded out three candidates for the Turf Moor number two post following the departure of Colin Harvey.
Former Grimsby Town boss Kenny Swain and Clarets old boy Willie Donachie are believed to be two of his targets.
"I will definitely have somebody in place before the first team squad report back for pre-season training next week," added Heath.
"The people I've spoken with are desperately keen to take the job. They are experienced people with a lot of football knowledge.
"They are all people I can bounce ideas off and none of them are yes men.
"Having a number two you can trust and confide in is vital."
