THE prompt action taken by Blackburn with Darwen council to solve the burial problems at Pleasington cemetery is to be commended.
Following complaints from people that they could not gain access during Muslim burials, the gates of the cemetery are to be widened, a one-way traffic system will be introduced and a temporary car park provided near the entrance.
Hopefully these measures will put an end to the acrimony which erupted a few weeks ago.
Visits to loved ones' graves and burials are traumatic enough without added aggravation.
Blackburn with Darwen Council, have acted with tact and diplomacy.
