THERE have been fantastic results from Save the Children Week and the Kathleen Ferrier Month. The Blackburn branch have raised £2,079 during Save the Children Week with a collection at Tesco, a house-to-house collection and various donations.
We raised another £1,667 during our Kathleen Ferrier month-long activities, including the concert, library talks and raffle.
We would like to thank everyone involved for making the last two months fun-raising efforts.
Special thanks to the staff at Tesco and at Samlesbury Hall, to the Kathleen Ferrier Month sponsors; Blackburn Museum and Council and the Co-operative Bank, and to everyone who donated to our raffle and with special thanks to the people of Blackburn for their generosity.
The next event will be an antiques evening at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School on September 26, when once again we will be indebted to Mr Arthur Bickerstaffe of Samlesbury Hall, who will be our speaker and valuer at the event.
Brilliant though these results are, they are but a drop in the ocean compared with the calls made on Save the Children's resources.
If anyone would have liked to contribute, donations can be made via myself by sending a cheque payable to Save the Children to 72 Horden View, Blackburn BB2 5DH.
BRIAN STOCKDALE, Press Officer, Blackburn Branch of Save the Children.
