STONE-hearted thieves have resorted to ripping up the ground we walk on!
Police say they are staggered at the latest crime-wave of stealing stone flags, not only from gardens and yards but from the public pavement.
Holes have been left on Lane Ends, Dundonald Street, New Hall Lane, Hesketh Road and the Fishwick area of Preston.
A police spokesman said: "The stone is probably being sold to landscape gardeners. There is no apparent pattern to the thefts, and they are probably being carried out by more than one gang."
