It's impossible to write about The Seahorses without mentioning one of Manchester's finest, the Stone Roses. After all, those driving guitar pyrotechnics that make up the distinctive Sea Horses sound are provided by the common denominator John Squire.
His quitting the Stone Roses in early 1996 was no bad thing if you happened to be vocalist Chris Helme, who was plucked from outside Woolworths in York where he impressed Squire with his busking.
And his powerful voice, allied to that brilliant guitar, results in one of the meanest sounds around.
The eleven-track Do It Yourself album was recorded with producer legend Tony Visconti and featured is a full length version of the top three single "Love is the Law.
A second single, "Do It Yourself" is to be released early next month and the band have just completed a well received tour. Great music. My favourites include The Boy In The Picture and Love Me And Leave Me.
