A BETTER job in the Midlands for a Labour councillor means there will soon be a by-election in Pendle.
Martin Short attracted 68 per cent of the vote when he was elected in May to represent the Marsden Ward of Nelson.
His 508 majority left his Conservative opposition a distant second and the Liberal Democrat candidate in third place.
Ward secretary Len Atkinson said: "Martin launched himself into the duties of councillor with enthusiasm and I am sorry economics have caused him to move away."
