IAN KAY was given a speeding ticket and a gold medal as Atherton SC featured in the Rochdale Aquabears Summer Meet.
His speeding ticket came in the 10/11-Year 100 freestyle, his win came in the 100 backstroke. And he also swam well in the 33.3-yard butterfly.
Rebecca Grime had fine swims in the 12/13-Year 100 freestyle, backstroke and butterfly and the 33.3 backstroke, freestyle and butterfly.
Amanda Clarke also swam well in the 14+ 100 and 33.3 at all four strokes.
Despite not being fully fit, Stephen Winstanley gave it everything in the 12/13-Year 100 freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and the 33.3 at all four strokes, while Geoffrey Earle featured high in the same year's 100 breaststroke and 33.3 (all four).
In the latest round of the Central Lancashire Junior Swim League Atherton just missed out at Tyldesley, losing 59-46.
In the Central Lancashire Intermediate Swimming League Atherton scored 141 at Skelmersdale where Wigan won with 177 points.
