HEALTH watchdogs are moving in to Leigh.

Wigan and Leigh Community Health Council has expanded and from Tuesday will have offices in Leigh as well as Wigan.

The CHC role is to monitor health matters within the community and to take on board opinions, complaints and comments about health services - good or bad.

Next Tuesday, July 1, people are invited to an office open day being staged from 10am until 2pm.

"We thought it was about time we had a permanent presence in Leigh. We offer support and advice on anything to do with the NHS and patients' rights," said CHC assistant chief officer Karen Wilson.

Initially the Leigh office, in County Palatine's Turner House building at 56 King Street, will open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10-2.30.

The office will be manned by officers specialising in different areas and an appointment system ( ring 01942 239631) will ensure maximum efficiency.
