OFFICIALS of a vandal-hit church are hoping public-spirited local residents will help the police to put a stop to the attacks.
During the last three months Trinity Evangelical Church, in Longton Lane, Rainhill, has been plagued by yobs who have pulled coping stones from the church, snatched lettering off the side of the church hall and have used spray paint to paint graffiti on the sides of the church building.
Reverend Jim Mollitt, said: "The church has always been a target for vandals, but lately things have been getting even worse. We've done everything we can possibly do to deter the vandals, putting guards on the windows and using vandal-proof paint, but all to no avail.
"We have now contacted the police about the situation, and hopefully the problems we have encountered recently will come to a halt."
ANYONE who may have any information regarding the vandalism is asked to contact the Crime Management Unit at St Helens police station on 0151 777 6050.
