Bury 8 Lancaster 15 DESPITE some crude and dangerous Bury tactics Lancaster water polo team extended their unbeaten run in the Northern League gaining two more points in the process. Victory came courtesy of an attack spearheaded by Hartly and Bowers though the score remained fairly close until the final quarter. The refs gave enough decisions to prevent the "pot boiling over," which meant that the Lancaster players took a number of illegal blows which went unpunished. From the off, Detko scored with a shot in off the post and 35 seconds into the quarter Bowers made the score 2-0. On their next attack Detko finished comfortably inside the near post and Potts made the score 5-2 with an easy goal from the post, before a dubious goal from Bury made the scoreline 5-3.
Although Lee Power and Neil Bowers scored for Lancaster, Bury were able to reply with two of their own resulting in an 8-5 lead for Lancaster at the end of the third quarter.
Although only three goals ahead the Lancaster players were in a positive mood. The first goal of the fourth quarter surprisingly went to Bury after 48 seconds. Within half a minute the score was 11-6 courtesy of a penalty goal by Hartly. Twenty seconds later Bury snatched a goal when Baker was beaten from close in, but Lancaster's next attack produced the second goal of the game from Lee Power. With two and a half minutes remaining Lancaster scored three goals courtesy of Danny Powell and Neil Bowers.
