KEEP the beer coming ! That's the cry from Blackpool, the favourite holiday and party destination.
As a town that likes to celebrate it's only right that it should have its own brewery to make sure the resort's cup truly does runneth over.
The newly-formed Blackpool Brewery Company Ltd is about to launch its unique Blackpool Bitter real ale. The beer, an original recipe specially commissioned for Britain's most famous leisure resort, is setting out to become as famous as the town's other landmarks by capturing the essence of Blackpool - in a pint pot.
The company is setting up in the former Old Dairy premises on George Street. Bispham residents, husband and wife team Kean and Sheila Brown are the Brewery's first employees and have been undergoing intensive brewery training for the past year.
The Managing Director, Sandra Manser is a local too. She attended primary and secondary school in Blackpool before going on to study A'levels at Bispham Tech.
Sandra said: "I am delighted to be part of the plan to bring brewing back to Blackpool. I remember the days of Catterall and Swarbrick before the brewery on Talbot Road closed. I have been keen to develop a business in the area for some time and the concept of a truly unique Blackpool Bitter seemed too good not to pursue."
"The initiative is welcomed by Blackpool's civic leaders who are keen to encourage new economic growth in the area. The Blackpool Brewery Company has been actively discussing its business proposals with various organisations concerned with the towns long term development.
