EAST Lancashire families were to be among the hardest-hit by plans to replace rates with poll tax, government figures confirmed.
Rises were set to range from 50% to 88% in all areas except Ribble Valley, Environment Secretary Nicholas Ridley announced.
The average family in Burnley, where the rise was to hit hardest, faced their bills for local services going up from £254 to £478.
