RACING-MAD Kevin Ainsworth's dream has come true - at the double.
Kevin, of Longworth Road, Billington, won the prize of owning East Lancashire's favourite racehorse, Swan at Whalley, for the day.
And if that were not enough, his four-legged friend did him proud by scooting to victory at a generous 14/1 in the 2.30pm at Doncaster yesterday.
Kevin, who was interviewed in front of millions of television viewers on Channel Four after the race, won the right to own the horse and have the horse named after him in a charity raffle at the Swan Hotel, Whalley.
But the horse will only keep Kevin's name for one race.
The pub landlord Harry Barlow said: "The horse is mine but we thought it would be a good raffle prize to rename him after the lucky winner for a day."
The horse won the £5,500 '50 Years of Timeform Handicap' and the prize money will be split between Kevin and Derian House Children's Hospice.
Four-year-old Swan at Whalley has raised thousands of pounds for charity, but his fund-raising days nearly came to end earlier this year when it faced a life-time ban for refusing to enter the stalls.
He was given a second chance by the Jockey Club after officials heard about his charity work.
