I AM an elderly arthritic, walking even very short distances is beyond me. I use an electric battery-operated four wheel invalid car, top speed 4mph.
This is only for use on pavements, has no weather protection and is not a licensed vehicle.
It takes great effort planning a journey that does not entail my having to go into the road, in fact, it's nigh impossible. Kerbs are dropped at one end of a pavement, but not at the far end.
So I have to go on to the road and it is a hairy venture. There are cars, lorries and buses and some hoot their horns. There are often cars parked by the kerb, which means I have to go further into the road.
There must be other wheelchair users and mothers with pushchairs who have the same problem. Yet I was under the impression that access should now be provided by law. I would be interested to hear from anyone who experiences the same problem.
