A SECOND bid to take control of Burnley Football Club has emerged in the wake of our exclusive story of a consortium headed by a mystery American businessman.

But, in both cases, details available to the club seem to remain very sketchy at the moment.

And the board of directors will, understandably, be reluctant either to discuss the bids in public, or to take them any further without all the relevant information being made available to them.

The future well-being of the club must be their major concern and dictate any decisions.

This latest interest is believed to involve a Manchester-based businessman. But Burnley's main problem is to decide whether the offers are aimed simply at making a financial investment - with a hope of decent returns - or come from people genuinely and solely interested in making the club a force again.

That is difficult to assess with many questions still to be answered.

Adrian Heath's shock departure for Everton is believed to have put the block on a potential £450,000 swoop by Bristol City for Turf Moor striker Andy Cooke.

City boss John Ward was aiming to set up a deal with his former boss. But Bristol have now turned their attentions elsewhere.

Heath was also aiming to bring in more players, with Bolton's Mixu Paatelainen and Sheffield United's Lee Sandford and Chris Short among his targets.
