HOLIDAYMAKERS heading for France were advised to check with their travel agents if they wanted to beat road blockades set up by farmers and hauliers. Traffic had ground to a halt on hundreds of major routes in France as protests continued over EC subsidies and new motoring laws. Bacup firm CP Freight reported at least five lorries held up by the jams.
