'ELLO, 'ello, 'ello, that face looks familiar!
Hyndburn's mayor, Councillor Maurice Cowell, tried to convince a group of visitors of his innocence on a tour of the cells at Great Harwood police station.
The unexpected inmate was part of an event organised by Lancashire police as a training exercise for lay visitors.
The county's 66 lay visitors have access to designated cells round the clock and can turn up unannounced at any police station in Lancashire.
They include local county councillors, independent members of the Police Authority and nominated members from local police and community forums.
The Police Authority's Ian Dickinson said: "Lay visitors play an important part in observing and commenting on conditions for detained persons.
"They have an independent viewpoint, ensuring officers carry out their duties concerning people detained in the police station. In turn, this secures public confidence in the way prisoners are treated."
