STRUGGLING shopkeepers have joined together to improve trade in a once thriving area of Preston.
Traders from Lane Ends in Ashton have the support of the town's Chamber of Trade and Preston council in their bid to stay in business.
Together they've introduced the Lane Ends Spring Initiative which includes late night opening once a week (Thursdays), brightening up their shops and cleaning up the area to attract more shoppers.
Julia Horn of the Chamber of Trade said: "We want to encourage people to come and do their shopping at Lane Ends.
"It has become rather a forgotten place. It's not all going to happen overnight but things are looking up."
The council has put up extra bins in the area and will look at improving the pavements.
