A SOLICITOR has dug out Preston North End shares from a century ago - proving that you really can keep things in the family.
John Kay from Penwortham, Preston still has receipts proving his relatives were fanatics - and shareholders at Deepdale since way back in 1894.
Season ticket holder John, a partner with Roscoe and Lynn, said his grandfather James Kay bought the first two shares for just £1 each.
He said: "It must've been quite an outlay for a 20-year-old mill worker from Longridge near Preston. He probably wasn't even the legal age to make the purchase."
The shares were passed on to John's father Cedric, who is nearly 80 years old. He later presented them to his son.
They will continue to be passed on through the generations - John's son Iain is the next in line.
John joked: "Following Preston is a must for us - you might say it's in our blood."
