YOUTH looks set to get their say on matters concerning them.
Wigan MBC Leisure Services Department have appointed Eddie Burke in the new role of Young People's Participation Officer.
Eddie, from Bolton, was previously involved in setting up and co-ordinating the Wigan and Leigh Young Carers project.
His new position, partly funded by Wigan Borough Partnership, will involve improving the level of participation amongst young people in council policy and developments.
As part of this he will be working alongside organisations including the youth service, schools, police and other council departments to establish youth councils.
Commenting on his new position Eddie said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to bring together the work of various organisations with the aim of developing a stronger voice for the young people in the Borough."
Eddie's first task will be to look at what levels of participation already exist and to develop an action plan based on these findings.
