A TEENAGE boy was treated by his doctor for cuts and bruises after being allegedly attacked by a man as the youngster made his way home along a footpath.
The incident took place on the Red Rocks footpath which runs through Grange Park Golf Club at about 6.55pm on Sunday, June 22.
The victim and a friend had been playing with a golf club and ball on a nearby playing field and were making their way home along the path when they encountered three men whom they believe were playing golf and asked if they had any spare balls.
One of the men then pounced on the boy, punched him in the side of the face and knocked him down, before grabbing hold of him, kneeing him in the stomach accusing him of stealing his golf ball.
When the boy arrived home he told his parents what had happened and was taken to the doctors where he received treatment for cuts and swelling to his mouth and the side of his face.
Police have interviewed Grange Park Golf Club officials who said that the three men were not members of the club.
