A YOUNGSTER who would like to share a plate of spaghetti with the Spice Girls is one of four winners in a school culinary competition.
All the pupils in Year 11 at Grange Park School had to write an article entitled: "My favourite meal and why? Who I would share it with and why?"
As his prize, Spice Girls fan Steven Jackson was given a guided tour of the kitchens by the head chef of a local restaurant and allowed to get involved in a pizza-making session.
He was joined by the three other winners who had equally inspirational ideas.
Zoe Ruckledge said she would like to share a donna kebab with her grandmother - who died before she was born!
Cara Jones voted for curry as her top tucker and said she would dine with her best friend whom she hadn't seen for a long time.
Claire Campbell, the final winner, had a heartwarming entry. She wanted to share her meal with her mum "because she always makes my dinner."
The winners were given a pizza treat at Lafontana, Clifton Street, Blackpool, from chef-in-charge Tony Randle.
The competition was part of a project the pupils were doing in food technology.
The pupils run a terrace cafe outside their classrooms and will be opening a lunchtime restaurant serving a three-course meal tomorrow (July 4)
Teacher Alison Gilchrist said: "They have done an absolutely fabulous job.
"They planned the menus, did the publicity, arranged the staff and made the food all by themselves for the restaurants.
"We're really proud of them."
