AFTER reading (LET, June 28) about the latest creature comforts Blackburn councillors have awarded themselves on top of the most generous rise they gave themselves a couple of months ago, you have to admire their audacity.
For are not they the same people who, year after year, write off hundreds of thousands of pounds of uncollected debts, have an open market they cannot fill, have streets that are not fit to drive on, pavements that are dangerous to walk on and a car park that is getting too expensive to use to do your shopping in town?
On top of all this, they are having a summer extravaganza to entice people to come into Blackburn. Instead of going to Blackburn town centre, people should get hold of their councillors and ask them to their faces what the heck they are doing with our money - because, for sure, it's not being spent on us.
B J BOOTH (Mr), Rockcliffe Street, Blackburn.
