LOVE at first sight can strike at any time, in any place and at any age, according to octogenarian Roy Townley.
He is set to wed sweetheart Eileen Condon, who is in her seventies, at the end of this month.
Roy, 82, says he fell in love with Eileen when he first spotted her four years ago at a function organised by the Ancient Order of Foresters in St Stephen's Club, Little Harwood, Blackburn.
He was district chief ranger of the Foresters at the time and said: "I saw Eileen sitting down and I thought she looked a bit lonesome so I asked her to dance. Before long we were laughing and joking together."
Roy, of Arley Rise, Mellor, found out Eileen lived in St Charles Road, Rishton, and paid her a surprise visit.
From then on the pair started spending time with each other and Roy popped the question last year in a restaurant in the Ribble Valley.
Roy and Eileen, who have both been married before, are holding their wedding at St John the Baptist RC Church, Burnley, on July 26 at 4.30pm.
