ELDERLY Catholics are calling for a joint effort to tidy an overgrown graveyard where generations of the faith are buried.
They say All Souls Cemetery, in Wheatley Lane Road, Barrowford, needs to be regularly maintained, and that a small annual contribution from parishes in the area could be an ideal way of footing the bill.
One of the pensioners contacted the Citizen to float the idea.
She said: "The graveyard is in a terrible mess, and it must be upsetting for anyone who goes there.
"We can't volunteer to do the work ourselves because we're all getting on and we just can't manage - even though some of us have been down on our hands and knees trying to make it a bit better.
"Surely it is not beyond the nous of somebody to organise the wherewithal so that it can be properly looked after."
