KEEN walker Dave Hoyle from Rainford is celebrating after successfully completing the 145-mile Grand Union Canal Walk! The Gore-Tex Challenge walk runs along the canal towpath between Little Venice in London, and Gas Street Basin in Birmingham, passing 150 locks along the way. Dave and fellow walkers completed the walk in stages on weekends off from work, staying in local hotels and guest houses along the way. To mark his achievement, Dave's name has now been entered in the Gore-Tex prize draw and he has been awarded a new pair of Gore-Tex Brasher boots.
