IT'S Grim up North - even in midsummer.
And big-hearted bikers are out to show the brighter side of life in the region with a two-day summer party rock and bike show at Atherton Collieries Football ground in Alder Street, Atherton (July19-20).
The far-reaching Fenrir Motorcycle Brotherhood is staging an "It's Grim Up North" rally with free overnight camping, bar, food and custom bikes.
Parking on-site is for bikes only and party highlights include a custom bike show with classic and scooter categories.
Fine music, a tattooist, trade stalls and an autojumble also feature in the party which starts at 2pm on the Saturday. It reaches a crescendo with a clubhouse rock night put on by rally and custom bike scene devotees.
Admission is £3 - plus a tin of dog food, which will go to the Petsearch animal charity which benefits from the event.
For ticket details or to book autojumble space ring FMB president and Farnworth fireman Mike Cunningham, on 01942 793487 or 0958 559185.
Mike, 37, better known as Popeye, lives in Atherton with his wife, Hazel.
