MOST Burnley fans were cock-a-hoop at Chris Waddle's arrival as manager - but some were worried that he wouldn't have the cash to buy the right players.
Andrew Short, a follower since the 60s, voiced a common view when he said: "I'm pleased with the appointment, but without the money from the board he won't have much chance of success."
One excited young fan said: "I can't really believe it - Chris Waddle at Burnley! I hope he's going to play."
A supporter of more mature years recalled former boss Jimmy Adamson and said: "If Chris does as well as our last Geordie manager, we'll be all right."
But the last word in Waddle's meet-the-fans session went to the chap who asked him: "Will you be taking any penalties, Chris?"
