A TODDLER who was viciously attacked by a dog was today recovering from emergency plastic surgery.

Two-year-old Kirsty Wright, of Romney Walk, Blackburn, had more than 20 stitches in horrific facial wounds after she was set upon by the bull mastiff-pitbull cross.

The one-year-old animal, Samson, which belonged to Kirsty's aunt, has since been destroyed.

Kirsty's mother, Patricia, who has four other children, said: "She was playing at the back of the house and apparently she ran into her aunty's kitchen when the dog attacked her."

The tot was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary and had 13 stitches in the side of her face and several more under her chin.

She was later transferred to Royal Preston Hospital where she underwent emergency plastic surgery to repair the damage before doctors discharged her yesterday.

Samson belonged to Kirsty's aunt, Kerry Hutchinson, of Dover Close, which is at the rear of her home.

Patricia added: "Everybody is upset because it was her aunty's dog. The police have asked me do I want to prosecute, but I don't know yet.

"Kirsty is recovering really well. She has her own dog, a Jack Russell-pitbull cross, and she doesn't seem scared of it.

"Samson was a black dog and the doctors said she might be scared of black dogs from now on."
