NEW boss Chris Waddle has given the green light to Burnley's pre-season tour of Northern Ireland.
Clarets officials have consulted other clubs due to travel to Ireland for their warm-up games.
And with the political problems apparaently easing, clubs have decided there are few risks in fulfilling their planned programmes.
Waddle said: "A few of the marches have been cancelled and at the moment it looks as though the tour will still be on."
The new boss has also been working frantically to assess the strengths and weaknesses of his playing staff.
And his first moves in the transfer market may be imminent.
He said: "I have got some irons in the fire and hopefully by Monday or Tuesday there will be something happening." Meanwhile, an apparent lack of progress could sound the death knell for a potential takeover of Burnley FC by a mystery multi-millionaire.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph first revealed Mr X's hopes of taking control at Turf Moor, with plans to pump in major amounts of money.
But the source who first alerted us to the takeover hopes of the consortium, bankrolled by the mystery tycoon, warned today that action was needed quickly or the investor would almost certainly start to look elsewhere.
It is understood that the board have been contacted over two different takeover offers.
One was considered to be derisory, while they claim that not enough details have been provided about the other, from the multi-millionaire based in the USA.
"How can you make an offer if you are not sitting down with the people to whom you are going to make it," said our source.
"I can't understand why there has not been more action after the initial approach. This is a genuine investment, the board could stay and it would bring mega money into the club."
"Every team that wants to be successful these days needs a backer and I am talking about a very wealthy man.
"But there is a great danger that the investor could look elsewhere."
Burnley is only one of several clubs that the consortium have looked at. Millwall are believed to be one of the others.
