REGARDING the article 'Weekly cab tests uproar' (LET, July 11), the only people who will complain about random testing on taxis and private hire cars are those who don't bother about proper maintenance of their vehicles.
I agree that these tests and recording of details cost operators a slight loss of earnings, but what is this when compared to pain or even death in accidents caused by faulty brakes, etc?
Having seen the weary state of some taxi drivers in Blackburn, maybe random reaction testing of drivers could be introduced.
