TOWN hall bosses in Blackburn and Darwen are planning to go soccer crazy when the new football season kicks off.

The council has hundreds of match tickets for Blackburn Rovers to give away and wants to hear from community groups and organisations.

Town hall bosses are particularly keen to hear from disabled organisations and groups who have not taken part in the scheme before.

To qualify organisations have to be in the borough and work with disadvantaged people.

Blackburn with Darwen Council receives at least 100 free tickets for each first team game at Ewood Park.

And the council's recreation and play service unit has been put on charge of the hand-out.

Recreation services officer John Radcliffe said: "Priority consideration will be given to those groups which have not previously been on our rota.

"We would like as many organisations as possible to apply so we can make the system as fair as possible."

Interested organisations should contact the recreation and play services department, Unit One, Harwood Street, Blackburn or phone 01254 698137 and ask for an information pack.
